Artek, Orgatec 2018
The growing possibilities of Artek furniture for office environments demanded a more prominent visual installation for Orgatec 2018. The core themes of stacking, weaving, and custom colors are presented throughout three triangular rooms as a coherent spatial environment for Artek within the village of the exhibit hall. These rooms are created by inscribing the square platform with a large triangle in plan, resulting in two open ‘storefronts’ open to the exhibit hall, and a more interior showroom. The spaces are defined by walls and a ceiling made of standard-issue, lightweight galvanized fencing. To celebrate and highlight the new possibilities unveiled at Orgatec for the Artek Model 611 upholstery webbing, the chain link of the walls and ceiling become an armature for weaving the colored fabric strips of the Model 611 in changing densities across the surfaces.
